Description
I've always had a solid idea of what Axa looked like, but in the same way you imagine characters from a book - recognizable, but a bit out of focus. So, every time I've drawn her, it hasn't quite hit the mark.
Just recently though, I decided to re-watch the film, Déjà Vu. And out of the blue, I suddenly realized I was looking at Axa - it's as if she had come into focus. Paula Patton literally shared every facial feature with my mental image of Axa.
So, to "learn" how to draw Axa, I did some studies of Paula Patton, transforming her into Axa. Really satisfying to see.
Naturally, you want your characters to be unique, so I'll continue to draw Axa from scratch, reinterpreting certain features for an original look.
But, just to clarify: photo references used for the above portraits.

I really love the look of this character and the artistry of each individual shot of her! They all tell such a wonderful story, down to the lighting, the expression, and the minuscule details! Such great work! *O*
